Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent
A part of the main.
~John Donne
For Whom the Bell Tolls has always been one of my favorite poems. It seems more true than ever with all the ways we have to connect to each other these days. Social networking has been a big boon for me. I've met and connected with so many wonderful and helpful people. Those are connections that I value. It has to be kept in it's proper perspective, of course. Social networks shouldn't trump our most important relationships. It should enhance them, I think.
And so, I'm seeking more connections today. Please join me if you haven't already. Let's see what value we can add to each other's lives. It doesn't pay to be an island.
What other Social Networking sites do you like to use? What benefits do you get from them?

I used to be much more involved in social networking and blogging, before life got so crazy that I had to cut back and focus on my life relationships that needed more time. Social networking is like the tides, sometimes it's high tide and you do a lot, sometimes it's low tide and you don't. And it's okay.
Hsst ... your GoodReads link is busted. It's Angie Lofthouse, I assume, though. :-)
Oops. Thanks, Lindsey. I think it's fixed now.
Oh, and thanks for adding me, too!
I'm already following you everywhere. :)
Hello Angie! Because you are so very awesome, I've awarded you The Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award. There are rules in accepting this, so be sure to check out my site to view them. Have a great day, and thanks for all your support.
There's something distinctly different about my brain that I just cannot comprehend social networking sites, and therefore, I don't use them. Goes without saying that I don't get any benefits from them, of course. I prefer to follow people's blogs, where they write posts that have more than 140 characters. That way, I get a better feel for their character, and their writing, and if I like them, I stick around. :-)
Angie - Thanks for this post! I needed to read that poem.
I like blogs too, Melanie. I'm glad you've stuck with mine. =)
Thanks, Tyrean. I love that poem.
Hi Angie - I have an award for you on my blog! Please stop by.
Cool! I just opened a Twitter account not too long ago. I'm still finding my way around it, but I'm your new follower!
I love your blog and I'll definitely be following you everywhere from now on. :)
I already follow. We're e-friends. Remember me? I'm over at the totallytinascott blog. Have a happy day, and yes I agree, the people personally in your life are more important than cyber-friends.
Thanks, Maeve. I'll check it out.
I followed you back, Brianna. =)
