| The Book Wreath |
It does go with the bookish theme of the wall above my bed:
That cute little girl helped me make it at a mother/daughter activity at church. She was glad I finally decided to hang it up.
So, what do you think? Would you make a wall hanging out of an old book? Are there certain books you'd object to being used in this manner? Do you think this will be the only good use for print books after ebooks take over the world?
Personally, I don't believe print books will ever go away. At least, I hope they won't. But I do think the wreath turned out pretty cute despite my lack of crafting ability.
Anyway, I hope you all have a very happy and prosperous 2012 filled with lots of great books, hopefully some written by you!
P.S. Looking at the labels on my last few posts, I realized how long it's been since "writing" was one of them. I'll be rectifying that!

Hmmm . . . I might, once I got over ripping apart something that I'd been taught to handle gently. LOL.

Yikes! It does seem rather sacrilegious to destroy a book, doesn't it? Like burning a book. Yet I know people who die when I tell them how I marked up my Harry Potter books (color-coded by topic). They look like my scriptures. lol
Though I don't like the idea of ripping apart any book, that is pretty neat! Happy New Year! :)

I've seen these (various forms) before and think they are really lovely. I don't think it is desecration at all and wouldn't mind it a bit if my book was hanging above somebody's bed in a beautiful form like that. It's fun!

I think there are a few books that serve the world better pulled apart and turned into art. My mother used to do these, but she spray painted them green when she was finished. They looked lovely.
That picture on your blog header is beautiful. Is that the view from your home? Lucky you if it is.
Hmm. I really wouldn't want to pull most books apart, but the craft is really cool looking. I can think of a few books I could never do that to, and although I have an kindle now, I love printed books.
The craft is really cool, and I liked Randy's suggestion of spray painting it, as well.
Although I love books, I can think of a few that might be better off ripped apart and turned into a wreath! :)

My MIL made a tall angel ornament out of a book in similar fashion (which unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of). My first thought was "they'll have to do something with all the paper books when everyone changes over to e-books." ;-)
