Writing at the Pond

So many fuzzy ducklings on the pond this morning. So adorable. The cool breeze sent ripples across the surface of the water. I walked for almost an hour and wrote two pages sitting on a bench overlooking the pond, all while my MP3 player served up the shuffle of unending awesome. I had offered to bring the kids along, but they refused. Even the three year old. Too bad for them. I think the pond may be my favorite place in the world.

Where do you go for inspiration?

There's nothing inspirational than nature, God's creations are the most wonderful, beautiful, and peaceful places on earth. POP

The Shower! Haha, it's true...I am brilliant in the shower (until I get out, and forget what I was thinking)...But, I do love the pond, the park, the parking lot at Walmart...anyway outside, with a cool breeze on warm skin, a bit of shade, and the smells of life :)

I love to talk walks around my neighborhood. I have "chats" with my characters. People think I'm on my bluetooth. Remember the days when people talking to themselves were thought to be crazy? Now I'm just pictured as on the phone.

Sounds like the kind of day that makes you thankful you're a writer. Normally, I read outside and write indoors. I guess I figure I'll be too distracted or have glare on the screen. Maybe I'll try it soon.

True, Pop. So true. I love nature! And being outdoors, Jen. The shower is definitely a great place for inspiration. We must invent a way to write in the shower!

Sadly, I don't have too many places I can go for inspiration, so I just have to make my own wherever I am. That might explain a lot...

Hey, great minds think alike! I posted about the pond down the road from me last Friday - I LOVE to write there! So peaceful, no distractions - heavenly. I write with pen and paper and then I type it into my laptop later, so I can write wherever and whenever I want! That's awesome you love to write at a pond too!

Todd, I like that thought. Make your own inspiration. That's wonderful. Thank you, Mom. I love the stars too. (I must confess. I didn't take the picture. I found it on the internet, but it is my pond and the same ducks!)

There is inspiration all around us. We just have to open our eyes to see it. Looks like you have some wonderful places for creativity.

Provo Canyon! I love it up there. And strangely enough, I tend to get inspiration while doing the dishes. You'd think this would motivate me to clean more often...

Mmmm, sounds nice! I like to muse on my book while I'll run. All sorts of character details reveal themselves during this time. Scenes will be running through my mind and I'll be just itching to get back and write them all down (or should I say type them all up?). Writing can be such a wonderful thing - nice to hear how much others enjoy it.
