So...Did I Finish It or What?

I had a great Spring Break. We did a bunch of fun family stuff including camping in the Valley of Fire and going to Shark Reef Aquarium inside Mandalay Bay hotel.

See? If you look close there, I've got my notebook in hand!

I took my notebook with me everywhere we went, and I wrote quite a bit (13 pages, which is more than my normal weekly output), but it wasn't enough to get me to the end of the novel. Sigh. I have come to grips with this fact: I do not write fast.  Even given a large chunk of time in which to sit and write, I don't produce a huge word count. Is this a problem? I don't know. It's the way that I write, though. I will say that when it comes to revisions, they usually go pretty quick. So anyway, I'm still plugging away on that novel. Really, I have to finish it at some point right? It's kind of the same feeling as being 9 months pregnant, and a week overdue, and though you know intellectually that the baby has to be born eventually, in your heart you are convinced that you are going to just be pregnant forever. That's how I feel about the novel right now. Will I ever reach THE END?  Yes. Yes I will. And it better be soon, because I can't take being pregnant with this novel much longer!

That is a totally creepy picture.

Anyway, good job on your 13 pages and good luck plugging along til the finish!! You'll finish in no time!

Sometimes I hardly get any writing done for a month or two and then I'll suddenly get that fire and throw down thousands in a very short span of time.

I'm not worried about your output since its such good stuff once its there. Heck, you'll have Harper Lee easily beat.

That's neat anology between an unfinished novel and a pregnant belly! I'm glad you had a great time and yes, I do see your notebook!

Don;t worry. I write slowly as well. If I write fast, it's all crap. So I've learned my lesson. :)

Nice to have you back!

Loved your analogy with being pregnant. I have a half finished novel that feels just like that!

Oh ... before I forget, thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting! :)

Getting writing done during a vacation is an accomplishment!

I relate to the analogy. I was 12 days late with my son and 8 with my daughter. In the summer.

Wonderful fam pics! I know how you feel about the unfinished novel and how it's so close, but still far away...
Let's start a club, shall we, Angie???

Ha! I felt that exact same way with my last project. You'll get there. I promise.

I'm a slow writer too and I'm wondering the same thing. Right now my goal is at least one page a day. Eventually it has to end right? Looks like a fun trip.

Glad you had a great week! I'm certain you'll get to the end...and definitely before I do. Hee hee!

I'm a slower writer, too. I've had to learn to accept that fact and stop comparing myself. It's hard and I frequently get down about it.

Hope your baby comes soon and that you're not overdue!

I'm so glad you had a good spring break! :) 13 handwritten pages is nothing to sneeze at. Sometimes writing slowly is necessary because you need to let the story incubate and acquire all of its little fingers and toes first. It will come, I know it! :)

My hat is off to you for getting 13 pages while on vacation. I dont think I could get 1. Love the family pics and good luck on finishing. I'm sure you are closer then you think.

I can't remember if you've already seen it, but there is an award for you on my blog!

I'm a slow writer, too. I could work for a few hours and end up with only 500 words. I've learned to be okay with that, even if I read a blog post in which the writer excitedly exclaims, "I wrote 2,000 words today!" I smile. Think, "I wish." And keep going.

Great post! And congrats on your blog award from Suzette and Bethany. :D

If your revisions are quick, it must mean you write well from the beginning.

Love that pic!!

Just found your blog. (Thanks for following ours.) I can SO relate. I, too, am a slow writer. And my son was born three weeks late. :-)
